hello,
Thank you for asking at HCM.
By what you explain, the lesions that start as vesicles and than leave an open area in the skin is typical of
herpes infection. It is a sexually transmitted infection that "sleeps" in our body and might get active time after time causing similar vesicles which leave tender skin area that burn and are very uncomfortable. what I would recommend is:
1. do a check for other sexually transmitted diseases like Helatitis B,
Hepatitis C,
Syphilis, HIV, chlamydia,
gonorrhea.
2. use condoms while having intercourse to decrease somehow the risk for infections- remember this does not cause 100% protection
3. safe sex (having sex within marriage, and not having other partners) is the best way to be protected.
4. If the episodes of blisters start you might help healing process by taking oral
acyclovir which is an
antiviral against herpes infection. These tablets have to be started as soon as possible to work well and most literature says they should be started within 72 hours of the lesion appearance.
5. Take oral
ibuprofen to help with pain
6. Avoid intercourse while you are with the lesions
7. Advice your partners to be checked for sexually transmitted diseases also.
Hope this answers to your question and is helpful to you
Best regards,
Dr Antoneta
