Suggest Remedies For An Acne Scars On Face

Hi doctor, I have acne prone skin. Today I woke up with a few small pimples which isn't that unusual or distressing because they are rather small however a large area of my upper right cheek is red and inflamed and looks much like a large acne scar… but I didn't have any pimples in that location when I went to bed. Based on this information do you have any suggestions to treat this on my own, I have a prescription vitamin A ointment and other over the counter acne creams but I'm not sure if acne cream is appropriate or if i should try something like hydrocortisone.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain pimples can occur due to causes like Oily skin,Clogged pores,Hormonal Imbalances,Bacterial infection,Inflammation,Excess sun exposure etc.
On the other hand scars/holes are left when the pimples are deep and aggressive..
Scars are of different types like Boxcar scars, waterpik scars, rolling border type and the treatment is not completely done with topical medications and you might need certain chair side techniques depending upon type of scars like Microdermabrasion, microneedling,excision with elevation, dermal rollers, Fractional CO2 lazers etc depending upon the scar type..
You can start applying silicone gel over the scars..
To reduce inflammation you can do cool compresses over the area and apply aloevera gel..
If does not improve consult a Dermatologist and get evaluated.
