Suggest Remedies For Abdominal Pain And Constipation In A Toddler

my grandson is constipated and when he has a tummy ache he will push and straighten his legs out. He is 16 months old and will scream when he is going. I ve never seen a child act like this when he needs to move his bowels is this something that we should be concerned about? My daughter is giving him miralax daily but it is still happening.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms of your grandson seem to be related to constipation. I recommend using an over the counter laxative such as Miralax.

I also recommend to give him liquids and daily probiotics. I suggest to give him a fibre-rich diet and yoghurt.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
