Suggest Remedies For A Finger Nail Infection

my son age 9 has an infection with yellow pus and swallen finger nail we have been soaking it in the epsom salt and baking soda for 30 minutes in cool water. I have also with hydro pr oxide and a needle and was able to poke and gently get some of the pus to ooze out. then soak somemore. Not sure if it is an ingrown nail or just a severe tear of the nail as he chews them instead of cutting with scissors. Thanks for your assistance jenn His mom

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think he may need to visit a surgeon to help clean the wound and drain it.
Also he may need to use antibiotics. Amoxicillin is the most probable for his case.
Use ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain relief and inflammation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
