The major side effect is their habit-forming potential. When taken continuosly for more tahn 4weeks, these medicines can cause dependence. Of these, zolpidem is a preferred choice as it has minimal habit-forming potential. You can take tablet zolpidem 5mg or 10mg as required. It takes around half hour to make you sleep. I must tell you that it can cause slight hangover in next morning. Donot drive or work with heavy machinery after taking this medicine.
