Suggest Prolonged Effects Of Lamictal

Yes, I have been taking Lamictal now, for about 25 to 30 years. And still am having seizures, but I ve got a couple of questions I wanted to ask. 1. What does this drug do to your body after taking it over a long period of time? 2. Is it just slowly but surely pile-ing up and turning into a Big Rock inside MY HEAD!??

Hello, Welcome to Health Care Magic

Lamictal is Lamotrigine and the drug is a mood stabiliser and anti epileptic drug. You are on 25-50 mg doses and these doses are not sufficient doses for seizures. Anti epileptic doses of the drug should be in higher range.

The drug is a safe drug and this doesn't pile up in brain so no need to worry. The drug cause sedation, dizziness, increased appetite, weight gain etc side effects, it can cause drug induced rashes also. But don't worry about its long term effects.

As your seizures are persistent even with drug so consult your doctor for re evaluation and prescription of some other drug.

Thanks. Hope this helps you. Take care
