Suggest Precautions To Be Taken For Dog S Bite On The Finger

My husband was punctured by our neighbors dog, his teeth dug into his finger to the point where he lifted the dog off the ground the dog was still attached, no need for stitches but should we be doing anything else. We cleaned it with peroxide and neosporin.

Dear welcome to hcm. Thanks for choosing us.

I share your concerns. In case of dog bite you need to much more than what you have done. Every dog should be considered as infected by rabies . Since it is a deep bite your husband requires antirabies immunoglobulin injections at wound site. Your husband also requires antirabies vaccine for definitive protection.

Keep observing the dog for ten days. If dog is healthy you can stop further vaccines if you are already immunised. If you have never taken antirabies vaccine please complete the 7 dosages of vaccines for future protection.

I hope my reply will benefit you. Please write to me or hcm for follow up queries. I wish good health to your husband. Thanks.
