Suggest Possible Treatment For Gonorrhea
I have a female friend that recently performed oral sex on her new boyfriend for the first time. A couple of days after this happened, sores started showing up in her mouth. After talking to the boyfriend, she found out that he had recently tested positive for gonnorrhea. She researched gonnorrhea online and found that azithromycin is commonly used to treat it. She also saw that azithromycin is used to treat strep throat. Since she did not want her parents finding out what really happened, she planned to go to the doctor and tell them that she had strep throat. After researching online, she knew that the white pus-filled parts were more distinct to the gonnorrhea and not to strep throat. To try to convince the doctor that this was actually strep throat, she physically cut the pus-filled white parts out. She is now on a z-pack after going to the doctor. I am extremely concerned about her risk for infection. Any suggestions?

Gonorrhea never causes sores in the mouth.
If her boy friend tested positive for Gonorrhea he would have got treated. Otherwise there must be lot of urethral discharge seen obviously on squeezing the urethra as Gonorrhea always has florid manifestations.
So adequately treated gonorrhea would not produce Gonococcal throat infection. Sores over mouth and blisters are common with Herpes simplex infection.
So she has to meet a Dermato-Venereologist and have to tell the true history, get examined and if necessary investigations to be completed. On the basis of outcome only treatment has to be planned. Self medication is not always fruitful. Her boy friend would likely to have more than one STD even after treatment of Gonorrhea. Herpes is known for recurrence even after treatment. So she has to consult her physician immediately. For Gonorrhea, single dose treatment would not be sufficient to treat throat infection.
