Suggest Possible Treatment For Depression

Dear Dr. Some 4 years ago, I was feeling slight depression that I could not give proper attention to my office work. I consulted psychiatrist who prescribed (1) Cap Betacap-TR 40mg (1-0-0); and (2) Licab-XL 400 mg (1-0-1). After around 4 to 5 months, I was feeling al right. On every 3 monthly consulation, intimated accordingly. However, even after 4 years' treatment, Dr. says treatment will go long. He never replies approximate period. I feel side effects of acute constipation, reduced heart beats (60/61) and tremors on both the hands. All pathological reports are normal such as S. Creatinine (1.28); TSH (0.62); Free T4 (15.98); and S. lithium (0.63). After tests, dose of Licab-XL has been increased from 600 mg/pd to 800 mg/pd. Now, pl guide me whether treatment being given is proper or otherwise. Looking to side effects, should the medicines be continued? I feel that now no medicines as prescribed required to be continued and wants to stop it gradually reducing the dose and power . Am I correct?

HI
Thanks for using healthcare magic

In single episode of depression, there is no need to give lithium. In your case, i would not suggest lithium. Now due to licab, you are getting side effects like constipation and tremor. If you are asymptomatic for last few years, then medications could be stopped, but stop them gradually. Consult a psychiatrist for proper advise. In case, you need my help, you can consult me.
