Suggest Possible Tests To Confirm HIV

hi, i had unprotected sex 7 years ago and later found out the man had sex with a man before me. i have had two children since then and more blood tests than you can imagine also a blood transfusion and two c sections.. would i know by now if i had hiv?? i have also had a smear test done about a year ago. My second child is only 12 weeks old so it wasn't that long ago i had all the routine blood tests taken during pregnancy so would anything of shown up on them if i contracted hiv 7 years ago? i really want to put my mind at rest, but don't want to get tested?? please can someone give me some peace of mind?? thank you

Hi

you have not contracted any HIV infection from the exposure 7 years back and any how you were tested to be negative during pregnancy.

hiv negative means you are free from disease. so be positive and dont go in to negative state.

generally in HIV infevtion symptoms start appearing with in 6 months and in your case you do not have any symptom.

be confident and have a piece of mind as you dont have HIV infection

Internal Medicine Specialist Dr. Karen Steinberg's  Response
Generally an HIV test is done when you become pregnant. If your exposure was 7 years ago, the test would be positive by now if you had gotten infected back then. If you had tested positive during pregnancy, you would have been started on medicine and your baby would have also been checked and treated at birth. So if none of this happened, you are most likely not infected. Ask your doctors who did all the blood tests if an HIV test was to be sure it was done. In the United States it is routine to get an HIV test with pregnancy but if you signed a paper saying you didn't want a test, it would not be done. Double check with your doctor to be sure. Hope this answers your query.
