It is a condition where the melanocytes that is melanin producing cells which is responsible for dark color of skin get destroyed . It is suppose that it is caused by disorder that attack immune system along with that there are some trigger factors like stress , sun exposure and certain chemicals . Hereditary factors also play role sometimes . I would suggest you t consult dermatologist for proper examination and to rule out other causes like thrush or fordyce spots . Doctor may order blood test and take biopsy. Doctor may prescribe steroid ointment , vitamin D supplement ,drugs to suppress immune system or recommend procedure like photochemotherapy or laser therapy.
