Suggest Painkillers That Can Be Taken With Metoprolol And Cartia

Hi, my mother is on Metoprolol, (1/4 twice a day) for palpitations and a weakness of the left valve to her heart. She is also on low dose Cartia. Both she has only just started about two weeks ago. Last night she tripped on a rug and put her back out, what painkillers is she able to take, (use to take coedine but now cant)?

Hi,
Welcome to HCM!

Sad to learn about about your mothers' accident.

You may safely give her a Diclofenac sodium tablet 50 mg dose twice daily. This is a potent painkiller and will ease her trouble. This potent painkiller may cause a bit of acidity. To overcome this, I'll advice her to take a Ranitidine 150 mg tablet along with Diclofenac.

If she's not having too much pain, she may take a paracetamol tablet rather than Diclofenac.

Hope I've solved your query. Feel free to ask if you have any doubt.

Wishing your mother a speedy recovery.

Regards,
Dr. Sridhar Reddy
