Suggest Over The Counter Medicine To Relax Pelvic Floor Muscles

Hi Doctor, I have an anal fissure that has not healed after 5 months and keeps opening up. One of the obstacles to healing I think is a tight pelvic floor. I have gone through the traditional fissure-healing steps of ointments, suppositories, fiber, baths, even having a Botox injection. My question is: Is there something I can take over the counter that will sufficiently relax my pelvic floor muscles? It seems that my stool is not the problem--it s normal from what I can tell. It s really the tight pelvic floor muscles that make it hard to go. It feels almost as if the rectum is pinched shut. What do you suggest?

Hi,Dear,Thanks for your query to HCM.
Dear I read facts of your query and reviewed it in context to your query health issues.
I understood your health concerns and feel Concerned about them.

Based on the facts of your query the reply of your query is-
YOu seem to suffer Fissure In Ano- Acute on Chronic Anal Spasm leading to Tight pinched Anus -and not rectum.
I reviewed the ways you tried and failed with.
It seems that You never got the right suggestion/ or are avoiding to Consult Surgeon/ Proctologist/ or may be you didnot get the right one till now.

Do's Suggested-
Check with Proctologist to assess the cause of Your Tight / Pinched Anus.
As your fissure has gone in Chronic form with callous edges and fresh base every time it flares up with hard stool after partying / or with spicy food you enjoy.
It would be prudent to have physical Check from Consulting Proctologist to start with- before planning further investigations and treatment for it.
Correct remedy would be-
Bland Diet lifestyle,avoiding street/or outside food, no alcohols,plenty of fluids,Good peri-anal Hygiene x 2 weeks
and Anti-biotics /with deworming treatment .
You really don't need any OTC Pelvic Muscle Relaxants-as felt by YOU.
YOu really need-Surgical Excision and Anal Dialatation- for fast healing with good peri-anal care for 3-6 weeks time, by which time the fissure wound would heal.
This is the right treatment-for your tight Anus, which is from spastic external and internal anal muscles.
Other causes-Like which lead to fissure in ano, like,IBS with D, Diverticulitis / Crohn's etc need to be ruled out in any case.
Constant followup for long term would give you long remissions in time to come, which would depend on meticulous followup treatment of your health concerns.

Just don't worry and be patient and co-operate with your doctors, till you verify with your attending doctors.Need to Check with Consulting Proctologist and Surgeon- if need be, if things don't recover.

Other causes need to be verified with your family GP /Consulting Proctologist / Surgeon -Specialist doctors, as the facts may be different what you submitted.
For this Second opinion with Surgical-Proctologist- specialist-is needed who would do proper investigation after proper physical assessment to resolve your health issues.
For early recovery-please follow above do's which would resolve your complex health issues.

Hope this would help you to treat your health issues in the best way possible.

Welcome for any further query in this regard.

Hi,
From history it seems that you might be having wrong impression about tight pelvic floor muscles.
This can be due to non healing of fissure producing chronic infection and inflamed painful scar producing this type of feeling.
You should rule out fistula in ano as well.
Consult your treating surgeon and get examined.
You might require a surgical procedure again to get complete cure.
Ok and take care.
