Suggest minimum medication to treat thyroid and joint pain

i am taking thyrox 25mg, six months back my tsh was 3.91,t3 2.74,t4 0.56 It was 11 two years back ,I am 56 now but thyoid problem started when Iwas 33 years old that time my tsh was 21 but i did not take any medicine as the doctors at Inmass hospital did not prescribe any medicine. But private doctors advised me to take medicine as i suffered fatigue with vlow blood count then I showed in AIMS that time my tsh was 8.something and t4 was little less.Again she did not prescribe any medicine and i kept on suffering. My suffering lessened in 2000 when my overies and utreus was removed due to big cyst in left ovary and my blood count also started increasing. Now from last six years I am taking thyrox started with 50mg then increased to 75 mg but decresed the potency as i started having pailpitations .About 8 months back i left taking medicine as my tsh had come to 3 and one of the Ayurvedic advised me not to take it after two months of discontinuing I found weight on my stomach and chest then my tsh had gone to 8. but always my t3 is ok and t4 little less.In jan my doctor advised me for lipid profile test total chlestoral was 244 trglycerides were 195 vldl 39 and ldl cholestrol was 168 I took exeroz 5 mg for two months and again the test was done total cholesterol came to 178 trglycerides to 159vldl to 32 and ldl 110. Hello,

You feel weak and have joint pain and dyslipidemia because you have hypothyroidism.

If you were my patient I will ask you to do a thyroid panel (TSH,fT3 the fT4) to adjust your Thyrox doses.

When your TSH test will be within the range, your symptom will disappear and you will feel better.

My advice is to take Thyrox or Levothyroxine every morning 20 min before you eat.

Do not stop taking this medication (like you have done before)because without levothyroxine you will be on Hypothyroid state and will have all the symptoms and signs you described.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Elona Xhardo, Endocrinologist
