Suggest Method To Check For HIV Infection

Hello, i have done a HIV Rapid test, hence i had sexual contact with call girls, now i am worried about HIV, windows period could be more than 8 months, in that i never had sexual contact. allso i never done elisa test, directly i done Rapid test, result as NON REACTIVE, please suggest me how could i take this, will i need to take Elisa test ? to confirm i have not infected HIV or is this enough .. i am worried please help me Age : 28 Weight 74 Kgs Hight 5.5 Inch

Hello dear,

A. The chances of acquiring HIV occurs in 2 cases:
1. If your partner is affected with HIV
2. If there is any cut/raw surface in your mucosa through which the infection can spread.

If the above mentioned criteria doesn't hold true for your case, then there is no need to worry about getting HIV.

B. ELISA tests detect the antibody, which may not appear in the blood during the window period.
So, to relieve your concern, you can undergo certain tests like p24 assay or PCR for HIV, which becomes positive within a week and are almost 100 % sensitive.
Even the presence of a single virus in the body can be detected by PCR.
So, if this test comes negative, you can be sure that you are safe.
