hi,

yes, You have been given treatment for acne and it covers almost all the treatment regimens we give to a patient of acne. First of all, you should know that treatment regime for acne differs for severity of acne. You have been given isotretinoin (aczit) which is given for very severe acne or acne causing severe scarring. Get your liver function test and lipid profile before starting this medicine. It has to be taken for atleast 6-8 months depending on your weight. you should avoid pregnancy while taking this medicine and 1 month after leaving it. After a while, you will have dryness on your face and lips which can be controlled with moisturizer. I usually do not prescribe 3, along with isotretinoin as they add to dryness factor.

I usually prescribe in this manner
mild- moderate acne: 3,4,5
moderate-severe acne: 3,4,5 along with oral antibiotic(azithromycin, doxycycline, minocycline)
very severe acne :1 along with clindamycin/ nadifloxacin.

In a female, one should look out for symptoms like irregular menstrual cycle, acne on chin area, excessive hair growth, open pores, hair fall, weight gain to rule out any hormonal component.
thanks
