Suggest Medicine For Cough And Headache

I have just developed this cough and headache . I m pretty sure I caught it from my sister but everytime I try to cough, I start to gag as if I am about throw up. Is there anything I can take to stop it from happening? I m afraid that if I eat something, I would end up throwing it all up when I start to cough.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your symptoms could be due to upper respiratory infection. Mostly caused by viral. bacterial etiology. It is contagious. Your symptoms could be due to viral or allergic bronchitis. If it is not associated with fever, wheezing, shortness of breath, chest congestion then nothing to worry and take following advises for next 5 days. Tablet crocin advance 2-3 times per day depend on severity.

Cough syrup containing guaifenesin and dextromethorphan: 10 ml three times a day. Drink plenty of lukewarm water, Steam inhalation 3-4 times a day. Take Strepsil throat lozenges (neem and honey flavor). Avoid cold beverages and exposure to pollutants If problem persists after 3-4 days then prescribed antibiotic can be used.

Hope this may help you. Contact further if follow up needed.

Best regards,
Dr. Sagar
