Suggest Medicine For Constant Headache In A Child

My 11 yr old son has had constant headache/migraine for over 4 weeks. MRI, thorough eye exam, blood work, test for Lyme, Q-fever and west nile virus have all come up clear. He is not sleeping well and the only thing that really helps is caffine. He has been to the chiropractor 3 times seemed to get some relief yesterday and slept better but pain still back up to an 8 on 1 to 10 scale. Has only been down to 1 once after a shot of toredol (but terrified to get another shot) Keterolac (prescription 10 mg) ibuprofin and tylonol rotating did not help. Aleve and tyl rotating did not help. Melatonin up to 9 mg not helping or benedryl or dramamine with or without melatonin. Have an appointment with neurologist Dec 8th.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think the child is suffering from a migraine. A neurologist visit is needed and possibly an EEG. I think you can give him Migretil.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Olgeta Xhufka , General & Family Physician
