Suggest Medications To Treat Erosions In Upper And Lower Part Of Small Intestine

I have ileostomy and have had it for 38 yrs. In the last 6months I have had bleeding and that has caused me to have to get blood transfusions. The scopes I have had have found that I have erosions or abrasions in upper and lower parts of my small intestines. What would cause this and what medicines would you recommend?

Hello,

History of bleeding could due to intestinal lesions but more common is lesion of the rectum and anal region (Hemorrhoid, fissures).

It is advisable to rule out this second appearance of the blood matters the great. If this red in color like fresh cut wound bleeding, then it may not be from the distal region of intestine but it could be from rectum and anal region only.

Erosion and abrasions are indicative of inflammatory disease and biopsy is only option for confirmation, you can discuss this with your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Akhtarhusain
