Suggest Medications For Fever

I have fever for two days now, I have been taking parcetamol. The fever subsides after taking the medicine but reappears again during the day. The temperature was 103 on first day but has come down to 101 and 99 today. Please tell me if there are any other signs I should look for if doctor visit is required

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi there,

Fever is a sign of infection. In your case, if you are also having flu-like symptoms (e.g. runny nose, cough, etc.), it might be related to viral infection. It will be reversed in a few days.

If the fever will persist, and/or if the symptoms will be aggravated, should get further checked by your doctor to exclude possible pneumonia or other health problems.

Meanwhile, I highly advise to:
- consume more fluids (water, tea, juices)
- have light meals (yogurt, curd, soups)
- take good care of your throat (can do gargle with water and salt)
- take 1 teaspoon of olive oil and honey on daily basis

Wish fast recovery!
