Suggest Medication To Treat Hypertension With Minimum Side Effects
I am currently taking Amlodipine 5 mg and Losartan Pot 100 mg daily for high blood pressure. I am having muscle weakness and pain and also weight gain. Is there a medicine on the market that doesn t have weight gain as a side effect and also which medicine can treat high blood pressure with the least side effects. I was on Metoprolol before until its side effects nearly drove me crazy. I seem to be very sensitive to medications. My high blood pressure is anxiety induced. Would it be easier on my body to take medication for anxiety instead of medication for high blood pressure?

First of all I disagree with you on taking only anxiety medicines instead of BP medicines . What you can do is you can take both but never stop BP medicines .
Second thing you need to know is every medicine has got side effects . It occurs in some people and in some it doesn't . So we need to use the medicine which fits you best .
I want to know what kind of side effects you had with Metaprolol .
Muscle weakness and pain is a side effect of Losartan . But Amlodepine is a safe drug , it may cause slight swelling of foot in some people but otherwise it's safe .
I advise you to stop Loastan and continue Amlodepine 5mg 2 times a day .
There are other alternatives like Clonidine , Prazocin , Methyl dopa but these have even more side effects than above mentioned .
