Suggest Medication To Control Cholestrol And BP Levels
Hi my BP has shown an upward trend in last 3-4 months; from 110/70 is now @ 140/100. HDL is 29 and Total Cholesterol is 209, Triglycerides at an alarming 500+; my doc has recommended a cholesterol lowering medicine and a blood thinning tab to be taken for next 2 months. Since i work in an IT environment my physical activity is almost as good as zero. my sugar is under control and i quit smoking 22 months back. i do not take regular alcohol (apart from 1-2 beers in a month). Things have already started: daily morning 2 mile brisk walking; cut down on clarified butter (home made) completely; stopped late night working on laptop; sound sleep for 8 hours; please let me know what else i should do to reduce my cholesterol and BP.
Hello welcome to HCM. Longterm elevated blood pressure and cholesterol will lead to heart and kidney problems. So it's better to control them as early as possible. I must praise you for your efforts. At present everything what your doc has prescribed and what exercise and diet plan u are doing is adequate. Within 3 months you will see markedly improvement in stamina, BP and lipid profile. My advice to you is. 1.You should go for routine ecg and trademill stress test (not urgent) to rule out that u don't have any blockage already. 2.Drink daily vegetable soup in morning, it will help u a lot in many ways. 15 min yoga and meditation, low salt diet, daily 3 pieces of almond and 1 walnut will increase your hdl levels. 3.Also rule out thyroid problem and do regular follow up every 3 monthly. 4.Use only sunflower oil or olive oil in food. Thank you. Best of luck.
