Hello.

Thank you for asking at HCM.

I went through your history and would like to make suggestions for your son as follows:

1. Were I treating him, I would prescribe him montelukast and levocetirizine for at least 7-14 days.

2. I would also prescribe him levosalbutamol in inhaler or syrup form.

3. I would suggest him to avoid exposure to dusts, smokes and air pollution as much as possible.

4. If severe wheezing or breathing difficulty, I would suggest you to get him examined by a pediatrician who can advise appropriate medications. For severe symptoms, corticosteroids may be needed. A short course (5-7 days) of corticosteroids usually does not cause long term side effects but can alleviate suffering.

5. As he has symptoms for last 5 months, I would suggest him allergy testing which will help him to know the substances he may be allergic to and also to know the measures to avoid them.

6. A healthy diet rich in vitamins & minerals (adequate amounts of green leafy vegetables, fruits, sprouts etc) and plenty of warm fluids to maintain hydration are also important.

Hope above suggestions will be helpful to him.

Should you have any further query, please feel free to ask at HCM.

Wish your son the best of the health.

Thank you & Regards.
