Suggest Medication For Severe Cold & Cough

I am Ajit and am staying at a very remote location in India where i do not have access to better health care. My 18 months child is suffering from severe cold and cough. For the last few hours he has started to breath rapidly and unable to sleep. Can you please advise what could be the problem and what medicine needs to be taken?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for asking question on health care magic.
You may give cetrizine syrup with paracetamol for temporary relief.
Steam inhalation and local instillation of saline nasal drops will give immediate relief.
Avoid cold atmosphere, cool drinks or ice creams.
Cold is a viral infection and is self limited.
If no relief better consult pediatrician because cold triggers an attack of asthma or it may lead to pneumonia.
Hope this answer will serve your purpose
Please feel free to ask any more queries if required
Take care
