Suggest Medication For Persistent Cough

I have a persistant cough that started over a week ago in India. We stayed in a musty/modly hotel room. I had a fever for 3 days. I am now back in the states, still coughing and congested. My mucus is brown, green and sometimes bloody - especially in the morning and evening. I get flashes of sweat and my sleep is not great.

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Since you are having recent travel history, we should definitely rule out lung infection (pneumonia) and bronchitis for your symptoms (cough and hemoptysis - bloody sputum).
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system, chest x ray and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
Chest x ray is needed to rule out lung infection.
PFT is must for the diagnosis of bronchitis.
You may need antibiotics and inhaled bronchodilators (formoterol or salmeterol) on the basis of reports.
Don't worry, you will be alright with all these.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
