Suggest Medication For Pain Relief After Sinus Surgery

I am going for outpatient surgery in two weeks. It is for my sinus. I have sleep apnea. My doctor said I will be in pain afterwards. I have had a bad experience with vicodin and codeine before where I di not think I was going to wakeup from it. What pain medison can I take? Can I take either of these after surgery?

Dear , This is Dr. S. Tomar from healthcaremagic.com's medical team and I ll be your medical advisor for this question. First of all thank you for sharing your concern with us and showing trust on us.
After sinus surgery different people have different intensity of pain , some feel more and some less . Among pain medicines you can take NSAIDs like Tylenol , Naproxen , ibuprofen , diclofenac .With this opioids can be added if pain is severe . Percocet , vicodin , codeine can also be used , if you can not tolerate then there are other options as mentioned. Before surgery you should definitely talk with your Doctor about your previous experiences about codeine and vicodin and should ask them that how are they going to manage the post surgery pain .
This is my initial response and discussion is open until you have any query or need further clarification.
I wish you good health .
Thank you for your question and feel free to contact further for any question .
sincerely,
Dr. Shardendu Tomar
