Suggest Medication For Jock Itch

Hi I went to my GP with classic jock itch symptoms. he prescribed clotrimazol 1% powder and Econaderm ointment. They have relieved the symptoms but it never fully goes away. I was wondering if I need a stronger ointment. P.S. I avoid underwear when possible as well as dry the area after a bath with a blowdryer. I live in the tropics by the way. Question: How do I cure this problem?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think if this is a chronic problem, you should start oral anti-fungal treatment with prescription Terbinafin or Fluconazole. Should discuss this with your caring doctor. Plus, treatment should last at least 2 weeks after symptoms disappear totally. Oral treatment only for 2 weeks. Discuss this further with your caring doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

All the best.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
