General & Family Physician, Dr. Praveen's Response
Hi dear. Thanks for writing on HCM.I were to evaluate the cause of jaundice in your baby which is pathological by doing the complete blood count, urine analysis, thyroid levels.Apart for this it is also important to rule out breast milk jaundice which is one of the causes but resolves by 6 weeks.Lastly gastrointestinal causes like (biliary atresia, hepatitis) have to ruled out.Since this needs a step wise invetigation and evaluation I were to suggest to meet a Neonatologist/Pediatrician for further management.Donot panic. He shall get well soon.Hope this clarifies your query.
