Suggest Medication For Insect Bite Around The Umbilicus

My 19 year old son came home from work today (landscaping) and noticed a faint brown ring (oval) surrounding the area around his umbilicus, about 5 cm diameter. I looked more closely and it looks like he has been biten(?) inside of his umbilicus as there are two red spots that look like they are filled with blood. Any suggestions?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

The most important thing is to watch for signs of infection such as pus secretion fever or swelling of extremity and in this case, you should see doctor who will probably prescribe antibiotics.

Otherwise, you need some kind of antihistaminic ointment Also Apply an ice pack to a bite or sting for 15 to 20 minutes once an hour for the first 6 hours.

Try a nonprescription medicine for the relief of itching, redness, and swelling such as Benadryl or Chlor-Trimeton.

Hydrocortisone 1% cream or calamine lotion may also be helpful. it is important not to scratch or manipulate the wound to prevent infection.

You may cover the wound with a thin layer of petroleum jelly, such as Vaseline, and a nonstick bandage.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
