Suggest Medication For Heavy Menstrual Bleeding And Anemia

I have been advised Duoloton L for six months for excessive bleeding and severe anaemia and in the sixth month after 21 days of Duoloton when I got my periods , on the first second and third day I had severe headache for the whole day though my bleeding was much regulated and haem levels were normal . I had discontinued for a month to see if the bleeding is regulated but the bleeding was the same and have been asked to continue with the tablet for another two cycles. Can you please suggest is it safe ??

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI,
I understand your concern
Heavy menstrual bleeding can be mostly due to hormonal imbalancethyroid or ovarian problems, PCOD)/ fibroid uterus/endometriosis,/ pelvic inflammation/ blood coagulation defects with sever anemia.
You have been advised Duoluton L by your doctor for the problem.. it mostly helps hormonal imbalance >> and usually a course of 3 months is needed to control it.
You had already taken it for last 6 months, without much of relief.
* In such case, I would advise consulting a gynecologist , You would be subjected to investigations to find exact cause of the bleeding ( Hormone assay, thyroid function test, blood counts, USG abdomen )
After pin pointing the exact cause, you will be give specific treatment that will help you.
Thanks.
