Hi.. I have been loosing hair for the past 5 years and I am 30 years old now. I went to dermatologist and the doctor prescribed me Monokem-n 5% , FolliHair New and grocapix. I have been using this medication for the past 10 days and I could see an increased hair fall which made me worrying a lot. I am not sure whether I am losing the existing hair after this treatment or loosing the loose/dead hair as I have been using this medication. Please suggest or advice?
You seem to have a condition called Androgenetic hair loss of patterned hair loss. You are on the right treatment for it. The increased hair shedding that you notice on treatment is a normal event and is called 'Anagaen surge'. The new hair growith that is stimulated (Anagen phase) pushes out resting hair from the follicle (Exogen phase), which were in any case going to be shed sooner or later. This is manifest as increased hair shedding in the starting few weeks of treatment and usually subsides on its own on continued treatment
