Suggest Medication For Dizziness And Inner Ear Infection

Have an inner ear infection due to sinus infection. Occasional dizziness. Am taking antibiotics but apparently they haven t kicked in yet. Is there any over the counter meds that will help to end the dizziness? Am due to fly on Monday and am concerned about reaction to plane cabin pressure.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Dizziness can be because of ear problems, common causes are BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo), Meniere's disease, inner ear infections, injury or trauma and many more. You can take tablet Stugeron or tablet Vertin after consultation.

Do you have history of discharge, fever? Start tablet Amox-Clav, tablet Nicip after consultation. Do take steam inhalation daily and keep ear clean. If severe dizziness, do MRI brain.

I will suggest you to follow up with detailed history or consult with ENT surgeon for detailed examination.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale
