Hi , a single episode of uncomplicated UTI is effectively treated with 7 days if nitrofurantoin. No need of bladder cleansing as bladder has its own natural methods to stay out of infection. in order to prevent UTI at this age, get his prostate evaluated and if he has any incontinence, I suggest consult a urologist . meds can be oxybutynin . hope this helps.

I have had bladder irritation and frequency for years and it is getting worse. No infection. Just burning all the time - no pain. I am now getting up at night several times and am suffering sleep deprivation. I am taking these drugs: Benicar, Topral, Prempro. Could either be causing the inflammation?

Hello, I am a 60 year old woman, I felt like I had a bladder infection the other day, I do get them quite often. I went too urgent care, the urine test was negative but the doctor put me on Cipro anyway. Should I continue taking it even with a negative test. The medication makes me feel bad....nausea, dizzy. Thank you.

I was told to take pyridium for my burning and pain when I urinate. But, after reading about it causing cancer, I am afraid to start it! I ve had cancer in the prostate and had it removed and it had ate thru, so I had to have radiation. I had kidney cancer and I had to have my right kidney removed also! So, I am quite concerned whether to take pyridium? Could you please give me some of your advise?

In November 2009 I had a botox injection in my bladder, This lasted till around June this year. I ve just had another botox injection on 18th October which doesn t appear to have worked. The doctor is now telling me that it doesn t always work. My query is, why would it work last year but not this?

Hello, I am really concerned about my grandma. She has a problem with her bladder, since more than a year, we ve tried almost everything, the doctors say they cannot see what the problem is, but she doesnt seem to get better. During the day it is ok, but at night she goes to the toilet too many times, and then she experiences pain and burning down low under the bladder. They checked her urine - nothing was shown, but her struggling continues. Please, if you can tell me what this can be, I would be very thankful!

I am a 26 year old male with no significant medical history, I began having pain in my bladder which began about five months ago and has since gradually subsided. I was told by a urologist that I saw for the problem that I had interstitial cystitis. I had also noticed hat I had/have been having foamy urine, when I told the urologist this he said that it was nothing to worry about that it was probably caused by the speed of the urine hitting the water. I had researched the topic online and everything that I read about it suggested that it most likely was protienuria. The urologist that I saw had done numerous UA s on me as well as ultrasounds on my kidneys, bladder, ureters etc. which all came back normal. What is your opinion on this should I seek further medical advice/care or just accept what the urologist told me? Please help.
