Suggest Medication For Acne That Doesn't Cause Side Effects

Hello, I have been suffering from ACNE since couple of years. I went to dermatologist and was prescribed antibiotics - Doxycycline (800-160mg) - 1pill/day. But I had sever side effects like diarrhea including most irritating side effect.. black scars (layer of a tough skin) at the edges of the mouth. Then I was prescribed - Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim DS (400 mg - 80 mg) - 1 pill daily and Amoxicillin 500 mg. But I had same side effects. Now, I am taking Accutret 10 since 3 months. But I heard taking antibiotics could cure acne permanently. Is there any other antibiotic that I can take with no side effects like black scars around mouth.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have noticed acne since couple of years which is due to hormonal changes and because skin has increased sensitivity of getting pigmented and it leads to post inflammation hyper-pigmentation. You should apply Meladerm cream and it is purely safe to use as this is combination of hydroquinone + Tretinoin + steroid and apply it at night time. I would suggest you to drink plenty of water. If condition doesn't get well in a week then consult dermatologist for proper examination and treatment . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics like minocyclin, steroid ointment and may recommend chemical peeling for marks. Apply aloe vera gel at night.
