Suggest Medication For Abdominal Cramps And Diarrhea

I had diarrea for 2 days which seemed to be subsiding. I saw my gp for a routine check up and she prescribed coversyl. Since then (7 days) I have had abdominal cramps and diahrreah. I have taken a stool sample to pathology which will hopefully shed some light on the problem. In the mean time should I continue to take the Coversyl as I've read diahrreah is a common side effect.

Hello,

I really appreciate your concern, most of the diarrhea is self-limiting and it may not need any treatment, but of course care needs to be taken for dehydration. If persist for days then it could be protozoa infection and then it can be taken for treatment, it is better to stop taking the medicines, and wait for lab report.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Akhtarhusain
