Hi, I was diagnosed with Familial Spastic Periphrasis in 2009 after I blew out the bottom 3 disks in my back. I had been walking with one can for a little while before and walked with a limp in my left leg, my left foot was turning in. Now, I have been to Mayo Clinic, took every possible test they had, I went to Midwest Spine Clinic in Mn where I had an EMG that is where I got the real diagnosis of H.S.P. / F.S.P. I do not seem to be getting any worse. It seems to have stopped progressing as that is a great thing! I do however still get horrible cramping in both of my feet, my calves sometimes and my lower back is always tight or cramped. I have been on more meds than I can count. Both muscle relaxants and pain killers. Currently I walk with two canes or a power chair in my home. Is there anything new that might be able to help me or to get me up and walking again? I have tried Baclofin, Cyclobenzaprine and numerous other meds prescribed by my Dr.s. I have also been through horrible anxiety still today that I see a counselor for and now I have mild depression. I was severe as suicidal Sept and Nov. I am through this now! I am not suicidal at all any more. Do you have any suggestions as something new I can do to help me with this disease and control my mind again? Thanks for listening.
