Hi,
Thank you for posting your query.
I have noted your niece's symptoms.
I assume that the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis (MS) has been confirmed in her. This includes doing MRI of brain and
spinal cord,
lumbar puncture and evoked potential studies.
Regarding treatment, for acute episodes of MS, the choice of treatment is methylprednisolone injections (high dose steroids). This is generally given at a dose of 1 gram daily for 3-5 days.
Subsequently, we need to start
immunosuppressive therapy to prevent relapses of symptoms.
interferon injections are the most popular for this purpose.
For relieving nerve pain, she can be started on
pregabalin or gabapentin capsules.
I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.
Wishing you good health,
