Suggest Management For Convulsions In A Child

My son who is 2 1/2 years old started getting convulsions when he was 6 months old, we have taken advises from various doctors and they have suggested treatment for two years. The medicine did help him and the rate of convulsion is less but for last two days he got two mild convulsions two times within 24 hours where in he did lost his senses for about 15-30 seconds but it was not wild as before. We are really worried whether he is getting good medication and whether he will be alright. As the age is also catching up and we will have to prepare him for admitting into schools, we feel he is not in the same league of his age group.
Medicines are:
1. Sodium Valporate 200mg – 2.50ml thrice a day,
2. Frisium 5 – half tab twice a day,
3. Levocarnitine 500mg – 2.50ml thrice a day.

Pls advise.

Kind regards,

Ranjan

Pediatrician 's  Response
in my opinion you may get his EEG repeated. Also you may consult your doctor regarding trying other medications like levetiracetam in place of Valproate. You may also consult a developmental paediatrician who will do developmental assessment tests for him and advise you appropriate therapy for him.
