Suggest Iron Supplement Dosage For Low Platelet Count In The Body

I recently got a blood draw result back from the VA. They say I have a low platlet reading- 106- and a reading of 38.1 on my HCT and a reading of 4.21 on my RBC. I have been feeling very tired & weak at work & rather than wait for some kind of decision of what to do from the VA I have taken an Iron supplement (18 mg.) with astounding results. My Question is is how much of this supplement is too much? (how much & how often can I safely take more iron)

Hi!
Welcome to HCM!
You have low platelet count and low RBC count with weakness and responding to iron treatment this indicates you might have iron deficiency anaemia.

We need to establish the diagnosis and also have to find out the reason for iron deficiency then give a full course of oral iron therapy, and the cause of deficiency should be corrected so that the deficiency does not recur.

So full hemogram with peripheral smear is the basic test required followed by serum iron ,ferritin,TIBC,along with physical examination .
Take care!
