Diabetologist 's  Response
apple , orange , gauva, water melon, papaya can be safely taken. One more point i would like to highlight is that now the concept of diet for diabetes is changing. Its is not the diet but the quantity of diet which needs to be adjusted. Same goes with fruits, there is no harm in taking fruits in moderation. Cigarette is a definite NO regardless of what your blood sugar levels are.
Hope i have answered your query
