Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was prescribed Tizanidine Hcl 4 mg tablets and when I took the first one last night it felt like i couldn t swallow and had to keep drinking water. i finally fell asleep but now am afraid of taking them and i would also like to know if they can be cut in half.
I'm not sure if you had trouble swallowing the Tizanidine tablet, or if you had trouble swallowing after you took it? I would be surprised you had trouble swallowing the tablet, as I believe it is fairly small.
Trouble swallowing on tizanidine is a known side effect, but this is rare. Either way, however, cutting them in half should not be a problem. You could try taking one-half tab every 6-8 hours, or however, often your doctor prescribed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Aaron Branch, General & Family Physician
