General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank You for the query at HealthcareMagic

Lamotrigine should not be discontinued abruptly. Abrupt stopping of the medication increases the risk of seizures and rebound of mood symptoms. Lamotrigine is discontinued slowly by tapering down the dose under doctor's supervision.
Treatment with Lamotrigine is long term and I recommend that you consult with your doctor to see if discontinuing the medication is right for you.

Hope I was able to answer your question
Please feel free to address any more concerns
Regards,
Dr.Lekshmi
