Endocrinologist 's  Response
Hi,

Welcome to HCM. I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

The diet in hypothyroidism depends on the cause of hypothyroidism. The common causes being auto immune (hashimoto's) and iodine deficiency hypothyroidism. Hashimoto's hypothroidism is diagnosed by increased anti thyroid antibodies in blood.

Regarding diet:

1. Iodine deficiency hypothyroidism

Decrease consumption of : cabbage, cauliflower, soya, spinach, brocolli, millet etc
Increase : Iodised salt, sea foods, milk etc

2. Hashimoto's hypothyroidism

No diet modification is needed as your thyroid is already affected by auto immune disease.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
