Hello, and welcome to HCM.

I am not sure how long it has been since you stopped drinking, but I am concerned that your eyes are yellow. This can indicate problems with your liver/gall bladder from alcohol. Nausea and abdominal pain can be symptoms of this too. If scarring of the liver has not occurred (cirrhosis), the liver can heal if you stop drinking alcohol.

I would advise going to see your doctor for a blood test called a liver function test. The doctor may decide to do other tests as well. And a support or rehabilitation program may help you to not drink excessively in the future.

About diet: right now have foods that are easy to digest. You can start with clear liquids such as broths and if you tolerate this, add thicker liquids and soft foods, such as milk or pudding, applesauce, bananas. If this is tolerable, you can likely eat regular foods.

It would be a good idea to take certain vitamins that may have gotten depleted with excess alcohol and poor nutrition. A multi mineral, mulit vitamin supplement is a good idea plus an additional Vitamin B Complex supplement is important as drinking heavily depletes the body of certain B vitamins.

As I don't know how long ago you stopped drinking alcohol, you may still be in the withdrawal period, particularly if you stopped abruptly. Withdrawal usually happens within 3 days but can last up to a week. Symptoms of withdrawal include a severe headache, rapid heart rate, sweating, vomiting, sea and vomiting, confusion or irritability, shaking, and can even cause seizures (usually if these are going to happen, they occur in the first 1 - 3 days).

Your doctor can help you with medications to help you withdraw safely and more easily if you are in the withdrawal period right now.

So I would strongly recommend you see your doctor or go to a clinic soon so that you can both be evaluated for your liver symptoms and also if needed, to help you with the withdrawal period and to help you make a plan so that you don't relapse.

I hope this information helps you. I am glad you are not drinking alcohol now - that is the first step in getting well for you.
