General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Overweight in obese individuals can be reduced by means of strict diet and exercise.
Diet that needs to be taken has to be formulated as low carbohydrate, low fat, moderate proteins with added vitamins, minerals and fibres. Junk foods needs to be totally avoided. Along with that, intake of good quantity of fluids is also important.
When combined with regular exercise like brisk walk everyday for about 40 minutes would give good results in weight reduction in about 6 months to 1 year.
In addition, kindly get thyroid hormone assay done to check weather it could be contributing to the obesity, so that it also needs to be treated accordingly.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
