I would request you not to be hasty about the baby's weight. In general, by 10 months to 1 year of age, the weight at birth triples. A steady gain in weight is what is needed. About the food, apart from breast milk, what the baby needs is basically the mashed version of adult food low on spices. You can give a rice based diet prepared by boiling together with pulses and vegetables. Hand mashed food would be better than that prepared with a mixer grinder. You need not boil fruits and can give it in grated form. You may add chicken or eggs but in mashed form. Give such a semi solid diet at two hourly intervals or as per the demand of the baby. It is more nutritive than cerelac, so decide which is best for you. Milk is not essential but may be given. The weight gain needs to be measured monthly or once in three months and plotted on a growth chart to see if the child is growing adequately.
