Suggest Cure For Side Effects Due To Prolonged Medication

Hi, I am a 43 year old woman and I had my gallbladder removed at age 21, and have been on an acid reducer, mostly Protonix since then. I am worried that I am experiencing some side effects of the medication from the very prolonged use and I am not getting much help from my gastro physician. She is telling me to just try a new medication. I have GERD and IBS as well as high blood pressure. The side effects I am experiencing was called gastritis at the ER room, but when I review the list of side effects from the pharmacy I see Clostridium difficile, and I had a severe infection but could not tell me where.
Thank you,
Alicia

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Post gallbladder surgery sometimes gastritis is common but your symptoms appear prolonged and severe. It might be GERD. Prolonged antacids are the treatment but if you are finding it difficult you may require antireflux surgery. Consult your surgeon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. B.dinesh
