Suggest Cure For Impact Injury And Bruising To The Liver
My 18 year old son is a professional motocross rider and had a nasty stack 10 days ago. The hospital didn't pick up the fact that he had fractures when they did xray's but he later had a mri and it showed 3 fractured ribs and a he was told he had a bruised liver. The bruise is apparently large. While most do not understand an mx riders need to be back on the bike it is extremely important for him to be back racing as soon as possible and we have been told a time frame but have found some doctors tend to err on the side of caution and again while we want to do the right thing a we do want him back on the bike asap. There is little information online in regards to impact injury and bruising to the liver so that is why I am asking other opinions on here. Thanks

Hello,
1) Small to moderate sized bruising on liver surface (up to 40% of total liver surface area) considered as either grade I or II liver injury.
2) Such bruising can be treated without need for any surgery considersing patient's condition is stable during days of observation and size of bruising is not increasing during these period.
3) This period of observation varies from patient-to-patient and from injury-to-injury, but roughly he need to be hospitalised for minimum 7-10 days and after discharge from hospital he need bed rest for another 2-3 weeks
