Suggest Cause For Farts With Brownish Mucus

lately i have been having cramps like i have to fart, and when i do, smelly, lite brownish colored mucus comes out, what could be causing it? I have just been diagnosed with anemia and take iron pills for it starting about a month ago, so could these things be related?

Hi.
Thanks for your query and understanding of the problem.

The farts are suggestive of disturbance of normal bacterial flora - most probably due to intestinal infection. That is the reason even for the light light brownish mucus. This is indicating the infection has affected large bowel too.

IT is good that you are already taking iron preparations. These will help you have rise in hemoglobin if you add further:::
Folic acid, Vit A 2 capsules and 1 sachet of vitamin D daily for 3 days. Followed by antioxidants= multivitamin capsules.

You need a course of an antibiotic and metronidazole and probiotics for 5 days. This will help solve the present issue you have.

I find this answer helpful
