Suggest Cause For Farting Mucus With Blood

Hi Dr, I have been experiencing bloody mucus farts today. Each time I have a severe abdominal pain, I will have to immediately rush to the toilet and no stools, only farts with blood. Mucus consistency like. I have so far experienced this twice within a few hours. What problem am I facing Dr?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Passing of blood and mucus during farting indicates there is some form of mucosal injury in the lower part of rectum and anal canal. Most commonly, it is due to bleeding from injury to blood vessels.
Most of the times, it heals and subsides on its own. Increase your fluid intake. Consume diet which is easily digestible and fibre rich.
Avoid constipation by taking laxatives containing isapgol husk powder.
Kindly get yourself checked by per rectal examination by Surgeon to make sure that there are no hemorrhoids or anal fissures.
Hope the information provided would be useful.
All the best.
